Who am I?
Hi. My name is Ashley Vaness. I’m a Minneapolis native, but New Yorker at heart. I’m a lover of photography and adventure. And I am a girl with dreams who always sees them through. You see, I don’t like to get too comfortable. I prefer to be in a perpetual state of learning lots of new things.
At the end of each day, I remind myself of this: “The Greek’s don’t write obituaries when a man dies. Instead they simply asked, “Did he have passion?”
25 Other Random Things About Me
- When someone sneezes, I bless them. Even if they are across the room and can’t hear me say so. I expect others to do the same.
- I am particular about the pens and highlighters I use.
- I can’t wait to have a giant dog who believes he belongs on laps. I will name him Charlie.
- My favorite word: captivated. It’s also my favorite way to feel.
- My dream job? I’d be a photographer.
- I’ll admit to being an elevator snob. However, I’m also the girl who starts up conversation with people I don’t know in them.
- I hate when people write “thx” for “thanks” or “u” for “you.” Are we really that lazy?
- Bananas with any sort of brown spot make me gag.
- I loath when people say, “We can talk about this offline?” while in person. You are already offline.
- Hammocks put me at peace. As do thunderstorms.
- I have an out-of-character attraction to ears pierced with small gauges. Since I would never myself have them, I pierced my nose with a tiny little gem instead. I took it out after two months. Once in awhile, I want it back.
- I have this desire to be an expert surfer. I recently took my first surfing lesson, and was pleased to discover I’m a natural.
- I finally followed my dream of living in NYC. I stayed for two years. By day 5, I succumbed to the conviction that it is the best city on earth.
- One of my favorite movies is Lawn Dogs. Remember Me is another favorite.
- I know how to shoot a 50 caliber Smith and Wesson. I prefer the 44.
- I have sky dived, and may do it again one day just so I can fall through a cloud.
- The first tape I ever owned was TLC’s Crazy Sexy Cool. My first CD was Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill.
- I’m a swimmer, a diver and a synchronized swimmer. And now a certified scuba diver. One fourth of my life has been spent under water.
- I thrive under pressure. I get bored when I don’t have too much to do.
- I am a M.A.C makeup loyalist.
- I own a small 100 year old log cabin in Montana, that is currently inhibited by small animals.
- I will never put my relationship status on Facebook. You don’t need to know about my new relationship. Or that my last one ended.
- I’ll play Catch Phrase for hours.
- Playing sports that require high amounts of hand-eye coordination is one thing that makes me highly insecure.
- I heart greeting cards. Buying them. Getting them. Giving them. In fact, someday I may just own a quaint card shop.
